We think that you'll like what we've got to offer, but just to make sure, we've added in some fun free stuff. Since you're reading this you obviously have a computer. And, since you're reading this particular file, you probably have a computer that is a non-Macintosh. That's ok, don't fret for your friends with Macs, we've hooked them up, too. Just differently. (Mac users see the readme.txt file in the root directory of the CD) For the Windows users of the world, here's what we've included for you: 5 MP3s (as listed above) Winamp 2.10 for Windows 95/98, and NT for playing back the MP3s 1 screen saver 1 promo video 2 B&W posters Here's how to access them: The 5 MP3s listed above are in the MP3s directory. Install the player of your choice (or complete the installation marked Setup.exe to install Winamp 2.10) and listen to the MP3s of The Guy Smiley Blues Exchange. There is a playlist in the same directory built for Winamp (Windows player) called "GSBE.m3u". Winamp 2.10 can be installed by using the included setup program. The setup program is located in the "Winamp 2.10" directory. If you use this file "Setup.exe to install Winamp, it will add customized visualization plug-ins from the band. More about that later... The GSBE Screen Saver is located in the directory called "Screen Saver.exe". Just double-click the file called "GSBE Screen Saver.exe". This will install the screen saver into your list of screen savers in the Start-> Control Panels->Display->Screen Savers menu called 'Gsbe'. The promo video is located in the folder called "Video". Just double-click the file called "GSBE.mov". This will start Quicktime and play back the video. The audio will not playback if you do not have version 4.0 installed. If not, go get the latest version of the Quicktime player at http://www.apple.com/quicktime The 2 posters are in the directory "Posters". There is an 8.5" x 11" black and white poster and an 11" x 17" black and white. Please feel free to print them out, fill in your own information, and help promote our shows. Or just put one up in your room. They are in .PDF format. To view and print, you need to have Acrobat Reader installed. If you need to download it, get the latest version: http://www.adobe.com/ Players and Playlists: Winamp 2.10/Setup.exe MP3s/GSBE Playlist (WIN).m3u To install (Windows/NT): If you need an MP3 player, we suggest you try Winamp. Included on this CD is version 2.10. Upgrades and new versions available at http://www.winamp.com If you have a later version of Winamp that you'd like to keep on your system but still want to have the customized GSBE visualization plug-ins, there is yet hope. Run the "Setup.exe" file and install Winamp 2.10 into some other directory other than Program Files/Winamp. Then, you can look and see how things are layed out in the two directories. Most likely, unless Nullsoft decides to really change their directory hierarchy, you will need to copy files from the Winamp 2.10 directories of: maps pics Plugins To install Winamp 2.10, open the CD drive and enter into the 'Win' directory. Double click on winamp.exe and it will guide you through the rest of the set-up. Please register this software. See the 'readme.txt' file in the directory you chose as the program's destination folder for instructions on how to register or visit the web-site at http://www.winamp.com About Cthuga, the visualization plug-in for Winamp: First off- you must have DirectX 3 installed for Cthuga for Winamp to work. Go to the DirectX home to find the download: http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ To get the amazing Cthuga plug-in to work, hit Ctrl-Shift-K. To stop it, press Esc. It will ask you to set up some configuration files the first time you run it, just hit enter. Cthuga for Winamp will then begin. The more RAM, the better. Your playback won't skip nearly as much. If you're having a problem playing back the MP3s with Cthuga you have a few options: 1. Check the file 'vis_sh.txt' in the Winamp directory, it knows all 2. Hide the main window by right clicking on Winamp and unchecking "Main Window" or press Alt+W. 3. Change the window size (decrease resolution) to a smaller setting (under Winamp's menu "Configure Plug-in") 4. Start the plug-in before starting the music. This helps keep skips to a minimum. To start the music once you've started the plug-in, hit X. 5. If you get an error about "DINPUT.DLL" missing, then you don't have DirectX installed (or it did not completely install) 6. Boost the priority of a visualization plugin to at least "Normal" 7. Check the Official Cthugha-4-Winamp Homepage: http://islands.zesoi.fer.hr/~kpisacic/cthugha/ 8. Check the Official Cthugha Homepage for help: http://www.afn.org/~cthugha/ There are some other cool Winamp visual plugins available. See the included file for links: Winamp 2.10/additional winamp plugins.txt Please register these products. _________________________________________________ If you have any problems getting your CD to work, you can also check the GSBE homepage for help: http://www.GSBE.com/support.html _________________________________________________ The dates: 2.19.99 - Rudy's - Knoxville, TN 10.31.98 - Windows On the Cumberland, 2nd Ave. - Nashville, TN 12.17.98 - The Casbah - Johnson City, TN The gear: 2 Shure Prologue 16L Condensor Mics -> Casio DAR-1000 DAT machine Generic Graphic EQ -> Behringer Composer -> Sound Card MP3 compression is Layer III, 128Kb/s, 44.1KHz, using the best codec in the world (Frauf.
